The Best Coffee on Bartley Road
No, this is not a blog about a coffee shop or your usual kopitiam as what they call it here in Singapore, (kopi-o, kopi-c, kopi). But allow me to contradict myself first and discuss briefly something about coffee and eventually get to my point on how i came up with the title.
People enjoy coffee especially if its black, creamy, sweet etc and maybe even better complemented with pandesal if you are a true blooded Filipino or if you have lived long enough here in Singapore, the staple kaya toast.
But what i discovered is that coffee whether you are having the modest 3 in one mix, most of the time, tastes great if it's enjoyed with other people especially those you love.
The best coffee for me maybe is not the coffee itself but the experience of sharing it with a loved one.
The phrase the best coffee in Bartley road is used by our beloved Pastor Leigh every time after she gives the benediction and invites the guests to have coffee with the church. She candidly says this in distinct pinoy humour (in Bartley road, the Filipino ministry is the only one serving coffee).
After service, people talk casually over coffee and biscuits, guests are welcomed warmly. In this place people talk about everything and find joy in knowing that fellowship does not end beyond the enclosed auditorium or during service.
Fellowship extends and reaches out passionately to other people beyond physical buildings.
This blog “the best coffee in Bartley road is a candid way of saying "Welcome, brother and sister, I invite you to talk about your life, the world and our love for God" and sometimes it begins with sharing a cup of coffee with others.
